You see, valued audience, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has just affixed his name to a measure that would cause royalty to turn green. The distinguished government representative made the declaration at what they call a "Ministerial Retreat" in Abuja, sounding proud as a peacock.

Certainly not! This extraordinary benefit is limited to those lucky individuals who retire at the exalted stations of the uppermost tiers of authority in agencies under the Interior Ministry's umbrella.
The stated purpose – and I convey this solemnly – is to prevent these distinguished individuals from facing financial hardship. Think on that a spell! As if a senior officer with a lifetime in authority would be found wanting.
This remarkable scheme comes alongside other reforms including clearing a accumulation of over 50,000 pending promotions and creating what they're calling a "world-class Fire Academy" to compare with the one in Arizona. Development proceeds, or so they claim.
I've seen many a government devise schemes to benefit their members, but this lifetime salary arrangement beats all. A body has to question: Why not extend such liberality to every government worker? Or better yet, to the common citizens whose money pays these salaries?

As I conclude this account, I must return to our theme: Nigeria senior officer lifetime salary. This August 2025 measure tells us volumes about the priorities of those who rule. And that, my friend, is a truth worth contemplating long after you've finished reading these words.
